Genevieve is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, based in South London, predominantly performing on bass and viola. She is known for her captivating performances and a seamless blend of technical proficiency and artistic sensitivity.

Biography

Croydon-raised multi-instrumentalist, Genevieve Namazzi, is known for her successes in her bass and viola playing.Genevieve's versatility and charm has allowed her to perform with artists such as: Robbie Williams, Beverley Knight, Clean Bandit, DON BROCO, Gary Crosby, Adam Betts, Kele Le Roc, Ni Maxine, Blue Lab Beats, Reuben Fox, Chineke! Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Grand Union Orchestra and many others.Her technical ability has created opportunities for her to perform in venues such as: Royal Albert Hall, London Palladium, London Stadium (Soccer Aid 2022), Amsterdam Concertgebouw, KKL Lucerne (Lucerne Festival 2022), Berlin Konzerthaus (Medici TV), Royal Festival Hall, BBC Radio Solent, The Wolverhampton Grand, The Rose Theatre Kingston, Chichester Festival Theatre, Pizza Express Soho (London Jazz Festival), Brick Lane Jazz Festival, KOKO, Turner Sims, and Foyles to name a few.Studying at Southampton University, where she achieved a first-class honours in Music BA studying viola and bass, she was under the tutorage and guidance of Jasper Høiby, Bas Terraz, and Sophie Renshaw. Since moving back to London in 2024, she has been inspired and encouraged to extend her versatility as a jazz musician and is often recognised as a bass player in the London scene.Her endeavours have been supported through the help of Cherubim Music Trust, Dorothy Grinstead Memorial Fund, Help Musicians and Tomorrow's Warriors.In addition to her successful undergraduate degree, Southampton University has awarded her the 'Hazel Muras-Osborn Prize' and 'Thomas Seltz Prize' for her contributions to the Jazz and Pop Department and her compositional dissertation.Genevieve's enthusiasm for musical opportunity is evident. From pioneering the first black, female pit band during the UK premier tour of Marie and Rosetta (double bass) to performing with Southampton's first live Ibiza orchestra (Club Classics Orchestra on viola), she has proved reliable, versatile and extraordinarily adaptable.As she continues to perform, teach and compose, she is looking forward to a bright future filled with meaningful relationships and growth.
